We would like to advise our guests of the prevalence of petty  street crime and other harms which may or may not become a reality while visiting our campsite  It is always better to err on the side of caution than to wish you had at a a later time. 

There is a high incidence of petty crime, such as pick pocketing and bag snatching, throughout Spain, particularly in tourist areas and on public transport in large Spanish cities, especially Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and Seville. The perpetrators are often highly skilled at stealing valuables, including passports and money, without attracting the owner's attention. Thieves often work in gangs and use various ploys to distract the attention of tourists. For example, a criminal may use large maps or offers of assistance to distract a traveller's attention, while an accomplice steals the traveller's belongings.

There have been incidents of thieves posing as plain clothes police officers and while pretending to enquire after identification, steal money and credit cards from tourists' wallets. Tourists are sometimes intimidated into providing the pin number for their ATM card. Incidents of drink spiking resulting in theft and sexual assault have been reported. Thieves commonly target motorists by either convincing travellers to pull-over because of an alleged problem with their vehicle or offering assistance to change a slashed or flat tire. While assisting the motorist, an accomplice steals from the car. Cars with foreign number plates are often targeted. There have also been incidents of breaking and entering of caravans and motor homes particularly when left in public parking areas. There are lottery scams emanating from individuals claiming to represent various state lotteries in Spain. If you have been a victim of a Spanish lottery scam, we recommend that you not travel to Spain to seek restitution, but rather obtain legal advice. Not to worry if you are planning to be a guest of either Vilanova Park or Paramount Places in the Vilanova i la Geltru area. We have remote controlled main gates with human staff controlling access to and from the resort. In addition, daily and nightly roving security patrols are alert and aware of any peculiar happenings on the campsite. While obviously present, our roving security works rather conspicuously without compromising the privacy of our guests.
